Welcome To The Obesity Resource Center

Since the mid-1970's the prevalence of obesity in adults and children has increased dramatically. According to the 2003-2004 NHANES survey, the number of obese and overweight adults between ages 20-74 has increased from 15.0% to 32.9%. A similarly alarming trend can be seen in both children and young adults. The number of children who are obese between the ages of 2-5 years is up from 5.0% to 13.9%. For children between ages 6-11, it has increased from 6.5% to 18.8%. For adolescents between ages 12-19, it has increased from 5.0% to 17.4%.

In response to the obesity epidemic, this site has been created for medical directors to serve as an up-to-date resource center to provide the latest information regarding obesity and the various techniques in use and being developed to help improve patient outcomes in obesity.
